Journey to Adulthood Ministry – JAM
Social scientists have observed that across cultures worldwide there are gender ideals for expectations of what it is to be a man and a woman. Many of the traditional societies have a well organized and systematic way to acknowledge adulthood for both sexes. In our Western industrial societies there is little fanfare and public recognition.
This ministry is striving to provide a healthy transition from childhood to adulthood for both boys and girls in their respective programs. JAM’s goal is to guide boys and girls on their journey to adulthood with formal ceremonies to mark the transition. This is the reason for the rite of passage ceremonies to mark the 13th and 18th year milestones.
